The OPES Sports Promotion Body and the IIS "Luigi Einaudi" in Rome present a distance learning initiative that will allow students to meet the Sports Champions online. The first appointment is scheduled on May 20th and will see the presence of the player of the Italian National Amputee Team Arturo Mariani.
A new project is about to make its debut within schools. In the era of coronavirus and distance learning, OPES and the "Luigi Einaudi" Institute of Higher Education in Rome launched "Sport Elite Lab". The initiative, which can benefit from the sponsorship of CONI and the collaboration of the Link Campus University and which will be held on the Google Suite platform for schools, will allow Capitoline students to meet sports champions online, to know their stories and to understand the positive values that inspired their lives.
From Wednesday, May 20th, and for further 4 events (22nd, 25th, and 26th of May), during the curricular hours, nationally and internationally renowned athletes will go up to the chair to conduct a lesson that will combine sport with civic education and life . The dissertation will not be frontal, but will be based on the interaction and involvement, not only emotional, of the pupils.
The first protagonist of Sport Elite Lab will be Arturo Mariani. Born in 1993, Arturo Mariani is not only an athlete of the National Amputee football team or a sportsman who loves martial arts, swimming and bodybuilding, but he is above all a charismatic boy, a motivator, and a great communicator. In order to prove his extraordinary communication skills, there is a passion for radio, a naturalness in relating to others, especially with young people, and also 4 books. In fact, Arturo Mariani is also an author. His last effort saw the light at the end of 2019. In December, in fact, "The most beautiful goal: a Fairplay manual" went to press. Previously, however, he had published "You are the problem and the solution of yourself", "Vita nova: the moment that changed thirteen characters" and "Born like this: the diary of a young footballer without a leg".
The adventure of Sport Elite Lab will not finish with the end of the 2019/2020 school year but is destined to have a following.
Thanks to these meetings and similar lessons, online or in presence, students will be able to enrich their cultural and experiential backgrounds. OPES, promoting Sport Elite Lab, proves once again to correctly interpret the needs of society, school, and young people. And in addition, in a historical period to say the least complicated, it does not stop pursuing its mission: to generate value for the individual and the community, inspiring the adults of the future.
